If starlight was human,
it’d walk through the fray,
and stand there quite clearly,
as my own aunt jay.
Most generous minded,
and sweeter than May,
her laugh like a bluebell,
I loved my aunt jay.
In moments of quiet,
by my side she’d stay,
a someone to listen,
that was my aunt jay.
Yet darkness is clawing,
her head it did weigh,
in shadow she walked then,
our bravest aunt jay.
A solider of nightfall,
she battled the gray,
til’ time came and caught her,
go strongly, aunt jay.
As long as she could’ve,
she kept it at bay,
her valor is winged,
the angel aunt jay.
In heart I will keep her,
in head I will pray,
that one day I’ll see her,
again, my aunt jay.
But now, I am heavy,
to pain I am prey,
for the knowledge comes slowly,
that gone is aunt jay.
So sky, be in mourning,
O earth, rue the day,
you ever did lose her,
our kindest aunt jay.
