About Me
Meet the Author
Madeline (Madi) Eaton
Hey reader, my name is Madi! I am a Newark Academy student currently working towards an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Since I was young, I have always possessed both a vivid imagination and love for the creative arts. My mother, a talented artist herself, gave me my creative spirit. She recognized my talent for storytelling, and encouraged me to explore it through writing. Now, I write whenever I can.
As a writer, I love to draw on both internal and external inspiration. For example, one of my pieces may be based off of personal experience, while another is simply inspired by a stranger I met in a coffee shop. In any case, writing is my creative outlet, a way to express my deepest thoughts, wishes, emotions, and fears. My writing also comes from all points of the creative process—some pieces are fully developed, some are snippets of larger works, and others simply exist as a single phrase, waiting to be made into something wonderful (see the journal page!)
Additionally, many of my stories are written from a feminist point of view. Throughout my life, I’ve been lucky enough to live alongside and learn from some truly incredible women. From my jiujitsu professor and theatre teacher to my mother, abuela, and aunt, they are the reason I spend hours scribbling in a journal or typing up a script—through their strength, sacrifice, wisdom, and kindness, they embody what it truly means to be a woman. I seek to be the one who tells this truth of womanhood to the world. In the future, I hope to expand this blog through greater pursuits, incorporating the stories of not just my closest role models, but also of women around the world.
In this sense, the name, “her soliloquy,” really does capture the heart of this blog. It is the world—in art, words, recipes and nature—through my eyes. My own personal soliloquy. In other words, this blog, in its entirety, is my answer to the timeless question:
“What makes you tick?”
