The Seasons

Time for Winter

An Introduction

This page is for the seasons. It is a place to celebrate the beauty of winter, spring, summer, and fall. Oftentimes, it is easy to become so buried in work, daydreams, or our innermost thoughts and worries that time soars past and the months blur into one—we lose ourselves in our heads. This is a reminder to look around you. Nature truly is a work of art, and we would be remiss to forget it.

Therefore, I dedicate this page to the seasons as they come and go. It is the small things, like the first frost of winter or a pile of pumpkins on the doorstep, that deserve to be recognized and appreciated. I’ve found that in searching for these subtle beauties, I realize the magnificence of the world around me, and am reminded that life will go on, even when I am sure it cannot.

The first snow of winter! These pictures were taken outside during a shoveling session. You can see my dad in the back with the snowblower.

We got a few inches of snow, and everything was so icy and blue. It really did feel like a winter wonderland ❄️

Snowboarding

Whenever it snows, my absolute favorite thing to do is go snowboarding. I have been snowboarding since I was very little, around six years old. I started learning on the icy slopes of the East Coast, more specifically in places like Campgaw, Smuggler’s Notch, and Okemo. My whole family snowboards (though my mom and dad both started off as skiers. I can only describe the feeling as akin to surfing clouds. I have been lucky enough to shred down some pretty amazing mountains, including those in Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. But out of all, Jackson Hole has been my all-time favorite. I am now an expert level snowboarder.

Holidays

Winter remains one of my favorite seasons for many reasons. Of course, it is a beautiful thing to look outside the window and see the world covered in a layer of sparkling diamond dust. I love the cold, as it makes the warm that much better. Hot soups and cozy sweaters are the best when the chill comes around. However, what really gets me excited for this time of year is the holidays, specifically christmas. Christmas with my family is the epitome of my happiness, bar none. From twinkling lights, sugar-dusted smiles, hot cinnamon and winter gales, to spiced Argentine meat, dulce de leche crepes, and spirited card games, the holiday season truly is the most wonderful time of the year. But what makes it so special isn’t the decorations or the food, but the love behind it. For me, gathering together with my abuelos, aunt, uncle, cousins, brothers, and parents is my favorite way of keeping warm in the cold winter months.
